How to determine the impact resistance of Glass?
Do you know what is impact resistance?
It refers to the material’s durability to withstand intense force or shock applied to it. It’s an improtant indication of the material’s life under a certain environment conditions and temperatures.
For the impact resistance of glass panel, there is a IK degree to define its external mechanical impacts.
This is the formula to calculate the Impact J is E=mgh
E – the impact resistance; Unit J (N*m)
m – the weight of stell ball; Unit kg
g – the gravity acceleration constant; Unit 9.8m/s2
h – the height when drop; Unit m

For the glass panel with thickness ≥3mm can pass IK07 which is E=2.2J.
That is: 225g steel ball drop from 100cm height to the glass surface without any damages.

Saida Glass care about all the details which request by customers and come up the best solution for your project.
