The Difference Between ITO and FTO Glass

Do you know the difference between ITO and FTO glass?

Indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass, Fluorine-doped tin oxide  (FTO) coated glass are all part of transparent conductive oxide (TCO) coated glass. It mainly used in Lab, research and industry.

ITO Coated Glass
· ITO coated glass can use maximum at 350 °C without big change on conductivity
· ITO Layer has medium transparency in visible light
· Resistance of ITO glass substrate increases with temperature
· ITO glass slides usability is suitable for inverted work
· ITO coated glass plate has a lower thermal stability
· ITO coated sheets has moderate conductivity
· ITO coating is moderately tolerable for physical abrasion
· There is a passivation layer on the glass surface, then ITO coated on the passivation layer.
· ITO has a cubic structure in nature
· Average grain size of ITO is 257nm (SEM Result)
· ITO has a lower reflectance in infrared zone
· ITO glass is cheaper as compared to FTO glass

 

FTO Coated Glass
· FTO coated glass coating works well on higher temperature 600°C without big change on conductivity
· FTO surface is better transparent to visible light
· Resistivity of FTO coated glass substrate is constant up to 600°C
· FTO coated glass slides is rarely used for inverted work
· FTO coated substrate has an excellent thermal stability
· FTO coated surface has a good conductivity
· FTO layer is high tolerance to physical abrasion
· FTO directly coated on glass surface
· FTO consist tetragonal structure
· Average grain size of FTO is 190nm (SEM Result)
· FTO has a higher reflectance in infrared zone
· FTO-coated glass is quite expensive .
